Deebo Samuel was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft out of South Carolina State University. He was selected by the San Francisco 49ers and played his first game on September 10th, 2017. After playing in just two games, he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his knee. He had surgery on October 11th and returned to practice on December 13th. On January 1st, 2018, he signed a four year deal worth $15 million. In his rookie season, he caught 22 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns. His best performance came in week 17 where he had five catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. He finished the season with 46 receptions for 533 yards and six touchdowns
