Head Coach He replaces Mike Budenholzer, who took over after Jason Kidd retired in 2016. He was previously head coach of the San Antonio Spurs. In his final season at the helm, he led them to a 49-33 record and reached the NBA Finals. He had been an assistant coach since 2010, and spent time as an interim head coach that year after David Blatt was fired. Before becoming an assistant with the Spurs, he coached the New York Knicks for three years.
Assistant Coach Jalen Brunson joins him as an assistant coach. His previous team was the Atlanta Hawks, where he worked under Mike Budenholzer. He played college basketball at Villanova University before going undrafted in 2011. He signed with the Chicago Bulls as a free agent and then became an unrestricted free agent in 2014. After spending 2015 and 2016 as a member of the Toronto Raptors’ front office, he rejoined the Hawks last summer.
Director of Player Development Brunson’s responsibilities will be similar to what he did with Budenholzer in San Antonio. He’ll oversee the players’ workouts, practices, and any off-court issues.
Strength & Conditioning Coach Ned Dishman returns to Milwaukee after working for the Golden State Warriors in 2018. He’ll be responsible for the Bucks’ physical conditioning.
Basketball Operations Moe Harkless (2017) will return to the Bucks as an intern. He played two seasons with the Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets, averaging 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. He scored 5 points with 1.6 assists in 15 games with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2017-18. 6. Media Relations Darryl Snead joins the Bucks as their new media relations director. He’ll work closely with the team’s radio and television broadcasts. He worked for ESPN for eight years.
Player Personnel The Bucks have hired Brian Winters as a scout. He comes to Milwaukee with four years at Gonzaga University, including three as head coach. He won 115 games in six seasons as the Bulldogs’ head coach.
