NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced Wednesday that All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge has been reinstated after serving a two-game suspension for violating the league’s anti-drug policy.
Silver said Aldridge tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his Feb. 6 game at New Orleans. He was suspended without pay for those games.
Aldridge had been eligible to return to action since Feb. 12.
The Portland Trail Blazers star averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range last season.
He missed the first 15 games of the 2017-18 campaign due to a left knee injury.
    Silver
said he expects Aldridge to play Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Silver also said the NBA and National Basketball Players Association have agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement.
The current CBA runs through June 30, 2019.
  2. Harris officially reinstated by NFL
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Tuesday that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been reinstated after serving an indefinite suspension for kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality.
Goodell said the decision came after consultation with the players union, owners and the league office.
Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the 49ers earlier this month, leaving him free to sign with any team.
The 29-year-old started the 2016 season before taking a seat on the bench for the remainder of the year.
