Former Alabama RB Josh Jacobs had a strong 2022 season for the Las Vegas Raiders and was set to hit free agency this offseason.
However, ahead of the start of the league year, it no longer appears that will be the case, as the Raiders are going to keep him around.
Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Raiders are using the franchise tag on Jacobs to keep him around for another year:

Using the franchise tag means Las Vegas will have to pay Jacobs an average of the 5 highest NFL salaries at the RB position in 2023.
Interestingly, prior to the 2022 season, the Raiders declined to pick up the fifth-year option on Jacobs’ contract, meaning he could be a free agent this offseason. Then he went out and ran for an NFL-best 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2022.
Now it’ll cost the Raiders even more to keep Jacobs around this coming season after his stellar 2022 campaign.
