March Is Here!
An NFL Draft Podcast
After a highly active legal tampering period, the NFL officially rang in the new league year and it had no shortage of fireworks as free agency officially kicked off.
The Philadelphia Eagles reversed course and, rather than releasing star cornerback Darius Slay, instead signed him to an extension. The division rival New York Giants added another weapon for Daniel Jones by signing former Colts wideout Parris Campbell. The Cleveland Browns continued their defensive makeover by inking former Chiefs safety Juan Thornhill to a three-year deal. Meanwhile, Jimmy Garoppolo’s introductory press conference with the Las Vegas Raiders was mysteriously postponed, the Chicago Bears added running back D’Onta Foreman and tight end Robert Tonyan, and the Colts brought in Gardner Minshew to presumably be either a backup or bridge to whatever quarterback they select in next month’s draft.
As we continue in free agency Saturday, here’s a rundown of what you need to know:
We got you covered during this free agent period. In our live blog below, you’ll see every important rumor and signing that goes down over this stretch. So, strap in because this is going to be a fascinating few weeks.
The #Lions are signing back defensive back and stellar special teamer C.J. Moore, source said. He gets a 2-year, $4.5M deal with $3M fully guaranteed and another $1.25M available in potential incentives. Moore visited the #Patriots on Friday.

The #49ers have agreed to terms with DB Myles Hartsfield, source says. He wasn’t tendered by the #Panthers as a restricted free agent. Carolina had discussed a return but Hartsfield will reunite with new Niners DC Steve Wilks.
Terms of new New England Patriots’ tight end Mike Gesicki’s one-year deal have emerged, via the Boston Globe. His contract is worth $4.5 million in base value with $3.55 million of it fully guaranteed. Gesicki can double that number and make $9 million in total in 2023 if he hits all of his incentives. A team-friendly deal overall.
The #Jets are signing G Trystan Colon, source says. Former undrafted free agent of the #Ravens wasn’t tendered as a restricted free agent, so he was free to sign elsewhere. Heads to Florham Park after three years in Baltimore.
Like this player. He’s over 6’8!
Tight end Donald Parham is re-signing with the #Chargers, agent Safarrah Lawson confirms. Another option for Justin Herbert in the fold.

The Buccaneers have officially released Cameron Brate and Leonard Fournette.
The Buffalo Bills have released wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie. Last season he played in 15 games, starting eight. In those 15 games, he had 42 receptions for 423 yards, four receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

Former Chargers/Jaguars/Titans kicker Josh Lambo is retiring from professional sports at the age of 32.
Today, I officially retire from pro sports. 4 years in @MLS and 7 in the @NFL have led me to things I could only dream of, and now I want to help others accomplish their goals as I become a speaker and author. The Seattle Seahawks had the seventh-worst defense in the NFL last season, and general manager John Schneider has reportedly brought someone in who can help on that side of the ball. On Thursday, the Seahawks agreed to terms on a one-year deal with former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush, per The Seattle Times.
The former No. 10 overall pick is a good flier for Seattle. He’s just 24 going on 25 this offseason.

In case you missed it, the Eagles have signed former No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota to a one-year deal for $5 million that can reach up to $8 million. He didn’t last with the Falcons, but I think it’s a great fit. For one, he’s a good backup, and two, he’s mobile. Philly likes its mobile QBs. Mariota actually would enter the game just to run the ball during his time as a backup with the Raiders.

Former Dolphins’ tight end Mike Gesicki is signing with the New England Patriots, per source.
I think his best football could be ahead of him.

I like this signing. Versatile interior offensive lineman for New York.
The #Jets signed OL Wes Schweitzer. Has spent the last three years with Washington. Has experience at guard and center.
Wow! I know Carolina was still hoping to keep him even with the Sanders signing.
Bears are signing former Panthers’ RB D’Onta Foreman to a 1-year, $3 million deal, per source.
#Seahawks have agreed to terms with QB Drew Lock on a one-year deal worth $4 million base with incentives that can take it to $7.5 million, source says. Seattle brings both Geno Smith and Lock back for 2023.
Robert Tonyan is staying in the NFC North. The Bears are signing the former Packers TE to a one-year deal, per ESPN.
Jason McCourty has turned into a reporter.
